Friend, I went down HARD last week. Two tissue boxes a day, eyes swollen shut (they actually gave me a vision test at urgent care), fever, achy teeth…pure misery.
No tea, over-the-counter meds, or antibiotics could touch my sinus infection. And the first Tender Circle was just days away. There I lay in bed, barely functional, wondering how I could possibly hold space for others when I couldn’t even hold space for myself (or my family).
As the weekend approached and my symptoms didn’t let up, I started questioning it all. Fear, doubt, and old stories surfaced. What started as, “What if I can’t show up fully?” soon spiraled into:
What if no one comes?
What if they don’t have a good experience?
What if I’m pushing something that isn’t ready?
Doing It Scared
Luckily, by Saturday, I felt much better. The fear was still there, but I decided to follow Glennon Doyle’s advice: “If you can’t beat fear, just do it scared.”
I’m so glad I did.
The Circle was small—and perfect. The energy was soft, grounded, sacred. We laughed. We cried. We shared. We exhaled.
It was pure magic. And I was reminded (again) of something I want you to remember, too:
The thing you’re resisting might be the exact thing your soul is calling for.
How to Tell the Difference Between Fear & Rest
The next time you feel a tightening in your chest, the urge to cancel your plans, or the pull to back away from something that once felt exciting, pause. And ask yourself:
- Is this my body asking for rest?
- Or is this my fear asking to stay safe?
Both matter. Both are valid. But they need different medicine.
If it’s fear talking, get curious:
- Ask, “What could be waiting for me on the other side of resistance?” (What’s the best that could happen?)
- Then fill the gaps: “What do I need to move forward?” (Do you need clarity, reassurance, or nervous system support?)
And if all else fails? Do it scared.
In Love, Light, and healing,

P.S. – If you’ve been quietly eyeing one of our Circles from the sidelines… I see you. And I saved you a seat. Let me know what questions you have. 💛
