VERA V. CHAPMAN  |  GRIEF COACH & LOSS MAMA

Trauma-informed grief support after miscarriage, stillbirth & birth trauma

If you’ve found your way to this page, you have experienced the unthinkable. Maybe it was a miscarriage —quiet and invisible to the world, but life changing to you. Maybe it was stillbirth— a delivery room filled with deafening silence. Or trauma during birth that left you changed in ways no one warned you about.

Whatever your story, I am so glad you found me. I’m Vera Chapman, a trauma-informed somatic grief coach and energy healer – and stillborn mama. I’m here to help you release the trauma that is overwhelming your whole being so that you can move through grief slowly and gently while honoring your precious baby.

This isn't ordinary grief.

Losing a baby is an experience that rewrites your identity, your connection to yourself and your body, your relationship to your partner, and possibly the whole world around you.

There’s a “you” before and a “you” after. You didn’t just lose a baby. You lost a version of yourself. You lost trust in and connection to your body.

You probably carry so much anger. Maybe shame. Definitely guilt. The “what if’s” play on repeat.

Your arms feel empty. Your pain feels impossible. And yet, the world keeps going, asking you to “move on” and “get over it.”.

Losing a baby disconnects you at every level – body, mind, heart, spirit, relationships. Maybe even your will to keep going.

And yet, here you are- looking for resources, anything that can help you feel less crazy.

I see you, mama. I’ve been you. And I’m here to help you through.

To get through it, you must go in.

Real healing honors every layer of your experience.

Talking helps—but words alone aren’t enough. Not for this kind of grief. Because this grief doesn’t just live in the mind. It lives in your bones, your breath, your nervous system, your womb.

You need healing that meets you there—at the body level, the soul level, the spirit level.

I offer trauma-informed grief support for women after miscarriage, stillbirth, and reproductive trauma—in a way that is as multi-layered and nuanced as the grief itself.

This work blends:

💛 Grief coaching & narrative healing – For telling your story to someone who gets it.

💛 Reiki & energy healing – To gently restore life force energy and help you feel held.

💛 Somatic nervous system work – To reconnect you with the body you may feel betrayed by.

💛 Sound healing – To soften the pain stuck in places that words can’t reach.

💛 Creative writing & art practices – To give your grief shape, voice, movement, and expression.

💛 Circle work & gatherings – To grieve in community, if and when you’re ready.

Sessions are available in-person in Lewiston, NY and virtually anywhere you are.

What does a grief support session feel like?

You’ll feel safe, seen, and held in a non-judgmental, loving space that moves at a pace that honors your capacity. You can’t do this wrong. A session might include:

  • Narrative coaching prompts to honor your story—and your baby’s

  • Guided somatic exercises to reconnect you with your body’s wisdom

  • Lying down fully clothed on a comfortable Reiki table (in-person), or resting at home (virtually)

  • Soothing sound healing to calm your nervous system

  • Breathwork, guided visualization, nervous system regulation practices

  • Loving touch or no touch at all

This is your time to be met where you are (not where anyone thinks you should be) – with a qualified healer who’s been there.

Who is this for?

This space is for women who:

  • Are grieving a miscarriage, stillbirth, pregnancy loss, or birth trauma

  • Feel disconnected from their bodies, spirit, and relationships

  • Don’t feel like therapy alone is enough

  • Want to “feel better”—but don’t know how

  • Feel like they’re “too much” or “not enough” in their grief

  • Are looking for trauma-informed, real, and grounded support from someone who’s been through it.

Whether your loss was recent or long ago, whether you’re deep in grief or starting to see little glimmers of yourself again—this space can hold you.

Why I do this work

Because I’ve lived it. On February 15, 2021, our world was shattered as our precious third child, Hayes Bennett, was born sleeping at nearly full-term.

I never imagined having to leave the hospital without my baby in my arms. Nor was I prepared for the deep grief and PTSD that crushed me for months.

By some miracle, I found my way to healing modalities that were supportive. I like to think that Hayes led me to them. Little by little, I moved through the pain, reconnected with my body, learned to love (and forgive) myself again, and found my way to meaning.

Healing isn’t “moving on.” It’s remembering your baby without it breaking, learning how to breathe and feel again, and giving your grief somewhere to go.

I created this space because there aren’t enough places for women like us to fall apart, be held unconditionally and knowingly, and grieve without being rushed. This is your space to begin healing at your pace – body, heart, mind, and spirit.

When your nervous system is activated and you feel overwhelmed, it often helps to be in the physical presence of someone who can co-regulate with you. If this feels supportive, I welcome you to schedule an in-person perinatal grief support session at Arden Healing, my cozy Lewiston, NY, studio.

Virtual

Sometimes, during grief, it feels near impossible to leave the bed, let alone the house. Whether you are close by my physical practice in Lewiston, NY, or around the world, I will be honored to hold space for you over video call (or phone, if you prefer) when it feels most supportive.
